Jeanne Y. Wei, M.D., Ph.D.
Jeanne Y. Wei, M.D., Ph.D., Dillard Professor of Geriatrics, College of Medicine, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, is Chairman of the Reynolds Department of Geriatrics and Director of the Reynolds Institute on Aging.
She has been Professor and Executive Vice-Chairman, and staff physician of the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center, Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System since 2002. Dr. Wei is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Cardiovascular Medicine.
After obtaining M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, Dr. Wei completed an Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. In 1980 she joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, and became Director of the Division on Aging at Harvard and Chief of the Gerontology Division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Wei has received continuous funding from the National Institutes of Health for more than 25 years, and continues to lead NIH-funded efforts at UAMS. She has more than 25 years of experience in developing academic programs. A gifted teacher, Dr. Wei received the “Outstanding Clinical Educator Award” from Harvard Medical School in 2000 and the “Outstanding Woman Faculty Award” from the UAMS College of Medicine in 2005.
